NERD is an academic support platform that helps students connect with tutors, manage bookings, and access learning support. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use NERD.
Information We Collect
- Account information, such as name, email address, profile photo, role, school or university details, and account preferences.
- Authentication information from sign-in providers, such as Google, Apple, or Meta, when you choose to sign in with those services.
- Platform activity, such as listings, bookings, offers, messages, support requests, payment verification details, and app settings.
- Technical information, such as device type, app version, diagnostic logs, and security signals used to protect the service.
How We Use Information
- To create and manage user accounts.
- To match students and tutors and process bookings or academic support requests.
- To provide customer support and respond to safety, privacy, or account requests.
- To detect fraud, enforce rules, debug issues, and improve service reliability.
- To comply with legal, tax, store, and platform obligations.
Meta Login Data
If you use Meta Login, NERD may receive basic profile information allowed by Meta, such as your name, email address, and user identifier. We use this information only for account creation, sign-in, and account support. We do not sell Meta Login data.
Sharing Information
We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate NERD, such as hosting, authentication, analytics, storage, support, and payment verification providers. We may also share information when required by law, safety, fraud prevention, or platform compliance.
Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain business records. Users can request deletion using the account deletion guide.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect user information. No online service can guarantee complete security, but we work to reduce risk and protect user data.
Children
NERD is intended for users who are legally able to use the service under applicable rules and app store policies. If a parent or guardian believes a child provided personal information without permission, they can contact us for deletion.
Your Rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by contacting support. Some data may be retained where required for legal, fraud prevention, safety, or financial recordkeeping reasons.
